Temple University: The Second International Research Conference on Community Inclusion of Individuals with Psychiatric Disabilities - September 20, 2011
Youth-Centered Prevention Can Erase the Stigma of Mental Illness in Communities is a panel presentation that introduces research on an innovative, youth-based effort to erase the stigma of mental illness in communities. The panel discusses Let's Erase the Stigma Educational Foundation's model–based on prevention, early education, and inclusion–which empowers youth both with and without mental illness to overcome the barrier of stigma and improve their mental health together. The panel overviews historical and current approaches to stigma, then introduce LETS's research methodology on the impact of youth initiatives against stigma in their communities.
